A prominent leader in Haiti recently stated that Russia is his ally and friend when it comes doing business with Haiti. This type of leader understands nothing, and they are not in favor of the advancement of Haiti. Any leader or anyone who believes that foreign countries are their friends when it comes to dealing with Haiti is not knowledgeable. Nobody should follow those types of leaders, because they do not care about Haiti and do not understand the power of negotiation. At a negotiation table, the focus should be on winning, or at least a win-win situation for the two partners. Negotiating for a country is serious business, and Haiti cannot afford to miss this opportunity. When anyone is making decisions in the name of Haiti with another foreign country, the interest of Haiti must always take precedence. Never mind about personal or family interests. All this nonsense must stop.
Haitians, please look at other nations when they are dealing with the interest of their country. They don’t call other foreign countries friends, but they call them partners. There is a reason for that, because at a negotiation table, partners are negotiating for the good of their country, while friends are only interested in getting favors. That is why Haiti always lose, and never win nothing for the interests of the country in a negotiating table.
Haitians should boycott any politician or leader who persistently calls foreign countries friends, friends, friends. They are not nationalist or patriotic, as they will never put the interests of Haiti first. President Jovenel Moise used to say, “Open your eyes,” “Please, open your eyes Haitians”! Stop making foolish mistakes and take lessons from them. Guy Phillippe appears to be knowledgeable and sincere, so just embrace him.
