“How Insulin Helps Control Blood Sugar and Prevent Complications"

Insulin plays a crucial role in managing blood sugar levels, especially for people with diabetes. It works by unlocking the cells in the body, allowing glucose (sugar) to enter and provide energy. This process is essential for keeping blood sugar levels in check. Since insulin is a protein-based hormone, taking it in pill form is not effective, as stomach acid would break it down before it could work. Instead, insulin is injected directly into the body, where it can go to work.

For people with diabetes, insulin therapy helps maintain blood sugar within a target range, reducing the risk of complications such as nerve damage, kidney disease, and cardiovascular issues. When other treatments and lifestyle changes aren’t enough to control blood sugar, insulin injections become a critical part of the treatment plan. This allows people with diabetes to manage their condition more effectively and improve their overall health.
